The Internet of Things for Agriculture

Agricultural applications for IoT

The longe range and low power capabilities of technologies like LoraWAN and Sigfox present huge opportunities for remote sensing applicaitions especially in large countries like australia or countries with poor 4G and 5G coverage in remote agricultural areas. As battery technology improves and sensor technologies get's smarter, smaller and less power hungry - the possibilities for more effective and efficient farming - are enourmous.

Healthcare Applications for IoT

The Possibilities for The Internet of Things in Helthcare largely support the emerging NBIoT and 5G technologies, implemented most likely via smart devices such as tablets, phones and in built into medical equiopment. Health costs continue to increase and the helth industry is historically slow to adapt to change. For these reasons, it may be Governments that are first to force the broad adoption of IoT in Health.

“And IoT is not a silver bullet. What will make or break a project with IoT is how it is used."

Gartner says surveillance cameras will account for 70 percent of 5G IoT endpoints in 2020 and will be the largest market for 5G IoT devices worldwide for the next three years, but by the end of 2023 will account for only 23 percent. “5G IoT installed endpoints for outdoor surveillance cameras will reach 2.5 million in 2020, 6.2 million units in 2021 and 11.2 million units in 2022, but will be surpassed by connected cars in 2023,” says Gartner.

Gartner tips surveillance cameras to be top 5G IoT application, but not for long.
